Athearn Roundhouse (HO)

Athearn Roundhouse became the company’s value-level line after Athearn acquired the Roundhouse/MDC tooling in the early 2000s. It sat below the Athearn Ready-To-Run line and focused on simpler construction and fewer separately applied details. Roundhouse models reused proven tooling and emphasized durability and affordability. The line covered a wide range of older freight car and locomotive prototypes. Roundhouse gave Athearn a clear entry point for budget-minded modelers while RTR and Genesis served higher detail levels.
