45' Container
Prototype Information
An intermodal container—also called a shipping or cargo container, or simply a “container”—is a large metal crate built for intermodal freight transport. Shippers can move it seamlessly between ships, trains, and trucks without unloading and reloading its cargo. Containers store and transport materials and products efficiently and securely across the global containerized freight system, though some serve regional routes as well. Essentially, a container acts like a boxcar without wheels.
Up to 95% of intermodal containers follow ISO standards, making them official ISO containers. A 45′ container measures 45′ long, 8′ wide, and 9′ 6″ tall.
