Procor 20,000 Gallon Tank Car

Prototype Information

Procor Limited (originally Products Tank Line) introduced the GP20 in 1969 as a versatile 20,000-gallon single-dome tank car for lighter-density liquids like oils and fuels. Procor built nearly 1,000 of these cars in Oakville, Ontario, before production ended in 1984. The GP20 rode on 70-ton or 100-ton trucks depending on operational needs and later featured a separate fittings dome, allowing the tank rating to increase from 60 psi to 100 psi.

The cars included interior heater coil pipes to keep contents from freezing or congealing, making them ideal for seasonal shipments. Throughout its production, the GP20 maintained a consistent tank diameter and length, serving extensively in both fleet and lease service across North America. Common reporting marks included PROX, UTLX, NCTX, BCOL, and CN.
