Kato Precision Railroad Models manufactures high-quality model railroad equipment in N and HO scales. The company started in 1957 in Tokyo, Japan. It earned a global reputation for precision engineering and smooth-running mechanisms. Kato USA opened in 1986 and operates out of Schaumburg, Illinois.

The brand is famous for its Unitrack system. This integrated roadbed track uses a unique “Unijoiner” for secure electrical and physical connections. In N scale, Kato produces iconic North American locomotives and passenger sets like the Amtrak Superliner. Their Japanese line includes high-speed Shinkansen bullet trains and commuter rail models.
