Red Caboose (N)

Red Caboose manufactured highly detailed freight cars and locomotives in HO and N scales. Leon Fairbanks founded the company in 1990 in Mead, Colorado. The brand earned a reputation for producing “finescale” models that prioritized prototype accuracy and intricate detail.
The company is best known for its diverse range of freight cars. This includes the iconic 10,000-gallon insulated tank cars and various PFE reefers. They also produced popular models like coil steel cars and specialized flatcars. In addition to rolling stock, Red Caboose manufactured the GP9 diesel locomotive in N scale. Many of their products came as both ready-to-run models and high-quality kits. Eventually, the company sold its HO scale tooling to InterMountain Railway Company and its N scale line to Fox Valley Models.
