RailKing (O)

RailKing brand introduced by MTH in 1995 to balance quality, detail, and affordability. It quickly became the best-selling product line for M.T.H. Electric Trains. RailKing models capture the spirit of real railroading while remaining accessible to a wide range of hobbyists. The brand primarily serves the O gauge market and offers a gateway into the hobby for those with limited space or budgets.

The hallmark of the RailKing line is its versatility. Most locomotives and cars use selective compression, which allows them to navigate tight O-27 or O-31 curves. Larger, full-scale models often cannot handle these small layouts. Despite their compact size, these models feature durable construction. Many locomotives use die-cast metal for boilers and frames to ensure a heavy, realistic feel and long-lasting performance.

Modern RailKing models pack advanced technology into every engine. Most locomotives include Proto-Sound 3.0, which provides high-fidelity digital sound and synchronized smoke effects. The brand also offers sub-categories like RailKing Imperial, which adds extra separately applied details like handrails and bells.
