Railroad Short Name: SOO
SOO “ex-Kellogg Grain” 1989+ replicates an example of a 1980s secondhand car, as SOO Line expanded their grain fleet. SOO applied reporting mark patches and small reflective white delineators on some carbody posts. The prototype carbody has weathered to a darker yellow, and the Kellogg graphics have weathered from blue to green. These prototype paint features are carefully replicated on this SOO model. This ex-PTLX car features a Pullman body with open-hole posts, center-tube train air line, and truck mounted brake hardware. (Notice there is no brake cylinder on the B-End!) The bays are equipped with beautifully replicated early-style Miner outlet gates. Up on top, the roof features replacement roof hatch covers. The model is equipped our 100-ton Barber S-2 trucks with accurate “Timken” rotating caps and correct truck-mounted brake beams.
