Description
Railroad Short Name: EL
Erie Lackawanna (EL) “Simplified Repaint 1966” w/ Interior Lights and Lit End Lanterns gives modelers an example of the solid-red EL repaint scheme from 1966. The entire body and sill are painted Safety Red, with a black roof and walkway. The underframe and steps are black. The Erie Lackawanna diamond logo is applied to the face of the bay window. Off to the right is the condensed “RADIO” lettering denoting the caboose is equipped with a radio for crew communication. On the roof, the wagon wheel antenna stands tall with a detailed smoke jack nearby. The underside is loaded with details: full brake rigging, battery box, relocated toilet dump pipe and a low hanging generator with cables and axle belt. The ends feature an accurate Miner brake wheel, separately applied coupler cut levers and train line air hoses. The model rides in Tangent’s All-New General Steel Casting “Express” trucks with 33″ standard .110” tread CNC wheels. The caboose has a fully-painted green/black ICC applied interior. For lighting, this Tangent EL Repaint is equipped with “golden” interior lights, mimicking the incandescent bulbs of the real cabooses along with lit corner lanterns with red and green lenses on one end. A wand is included to operate the lights – easy with no fuss! We are offering our EL “Simplified Repaint 1966” scheme in 6 numbers. Each car number features accurate car body number, RADIO lettering spacing and positioning based on photos. For the EL fans paying attention: Yes, each car has varying placement and different month and day data in the IDT, paint code, inspection, truck changeout and REPACK stencils from the EL’s Hornell, New York shop in 1966. Stepwell data and end reporting mark placement on each individual model also vary by car number.
