52' Evans Gondola

Prototype Information

The Evans 52′ gondola was introduced in the 1970s. It was designed for general service, carrying scrap, pipe, and other bulk materials. The all-steel construction made it durable for tough loads. Its 52-foot length offered more capacity than older gondolas. Evans Products Company built these cars for railroads and leasing fleets. Many featured drop ends or fixed ends, depending on the service. They were common through the 1980s and into the 2000s.
