53' Dry Contrainer

Prototype Information

CIMC introduced the 53-foot corrugated dry container in the early 2000s. These units now appear on nearly every domestic intermodal train across the United States and Canada. The design features a specific nose configuration with seven square corrugations and blank panels at the top and bottom. A document box is also mounted on the nose for manifest paperwork.

The side walls utilize an 8-58-8 square corrugation pattern for structural integrity. This high-cube design maximizes interior volume for domestic shipping while maintaining the durability needed for rail transit. These containers serve as a primary standard for North American logistics and domestic double-stack service.
