Description

Railroad Short Name: NCTD

The NCTD Sprinter provides modern, clean and quiet, diesel-powered commuter service in Northern San Diego County. It connects with trains of Amtrak’s Surfliner, plus commuter services of Metrolink and the Coaster. These new PIKO articulated models feature interior details and lights, as well as directional lighting.  A typical Sprinter consist would have two road numbers coupled together.  The PIKO models also feature new tooling for the larger rooftop AC units vs. a Eurpean Desiro.

Locomotive Features:

  • Powerful and smooth running motor
  • Loco includes PIKO SmartSound 5.1 Decoder and Sound
  • Directional White/Red Changing Head and Tail Lights
  • Overall Length = 479mm / 18.8″
  • Minimum Radius = 360mm / 14.2″

Sound Features:

The PIKO SmartSound Decoder 5.1 brings you over 4 minutes of unique and authentic Sprinter sound files including Long Horn, Short Horn, Grade Crossing, Crossing Bell, FRA Emergency Horn, motor sounds, brake squeal, curve squeal, official NCTD recordings of onboard and station platform announcements (some are even bilingual, just like the real thing), plus every single station stop announcement! We did our homework (and trackside and repair facility work) to bring you the real Sprinter in HO.
