25,500 Gallon Tank Car

Prototype Information

The Trinity 25,500-gallon tank car was built to haul large amounts of liquid. It is used for products like ethanol, crude oil, and chemicals. TrinityRail introduced it in the early 2000s.

The large capacity made it efficient but still within rail limits. Early versions followed DOT-111 or CPC-1232 standards. Later models were upgraded to meet DOT-117 rules after safety concerns.

These newer cars have thicker shells, head shields, and better valves. The design became popular for ethanol and crude oil trains. Many are still in use today across North America.
