Train would not have gotten such a bad review if the assembly was not so hard. Unless you literally designed the train it is close to impossible to assemble it. All the other brands have their trains ready to run when you get it so why can’t Kato do this?

It is a beautifu loco, with charming detail, looks sharp and realistic with all those seperatly fitted parts and livery. Price wise I think it was spot on, you get more detail than the walthers f40s, but also better price than the rapido trains ones. Mechanicaly it’s good. It is a bit noisy, (especially above 60%, then you get HEP without DCC sound), but as a trade off it is a good puller(for my 16 car freight set up it didn’t struggle at all, unlike my KATO SD40-2, which wheel slipped ever y now and then). I do however got to agree with Max that the locomotive at first was quite bare bones, with no grab irons or number plates attatched. I was lucky enough to get my friend at a hobby store to attatch it for me, but I can imagine it being a struggle. Overall I would recommend it, since the price to quality ratio is very reasonable imo.
